Opening: Your Story
What attracted you to Vanquis, and why did you decide to join?
I run a portfolio of projects in the Modern Workplace space to ensure colleagues have a great Technology experience and to continue innovating the tech colleagues work with. I also project manage other projects in the wider business in areas such as Finance and Treasury
I have always wanted to get into the banking industry. Having come from a background in technology and sports betting. I understood the technology and regulatory environment that banking sits within.

What does “The Next Chapter Starts With You” mean to you personally?
Vanquis is constantly evolving and working to become a better business to work for. A focus on improving technology and the ways of working.
Ownership & Impact
How does your work make a difference to customers, colleagues or the wider business?
I work on projects to improve colleagues’ ways of working, listen to feedback, and find better ways of doing things.
Problem Solving
What’s a complex problem you’re tackling today that candidates might find exciting?
We have merged multiple companies over the past few years, which has required our technology platforms to change so that all colleagues can be on a single platform and in a single environment. I have managed multiple projects to migrate these colleagues so everyone is under one Vanquis platform.
Building What’s Next
What excites you most about the future of your area?
I get to work on a variety of projects across various business areas at the same time. Meaning I get to look at not just colleague improvements, but customer and wider business improvements.
I am currently implementing a new Asset-Liability Management system that will significantly improve the bank’s risk and liability management.

What exciting problems are you solving with technology?
One technology project can span a massive number of teams to deliver something that seems simple. It is always a pleasure to engage with new teams and get them bought into the projects and product we are delivering.

What advice would you give to someone looking to grow their career in your field?
Vanquis are great at providing training, offering a wealth of external training courses.

How would you describe your team in three words?
The culture here is not that of a corporate bank. People are nurtured, and help is always available.
Looking Ahead
If we spoke again in two years, what would you hope to have achieved?
I would like the team I am in to grow, with more formalised portfolio manager roles and greater line management.
