How to Become an Employer of Choice in a Candidate Driven Market featured image

So often, we advise candidates about how to stand out in a crowded job market so that they can bag their dream role. However, COVID-19 and other factors have flipped the tables, and now companies are scrambling to fill positions whilst candidates might be sitting on multiple offers. In today’s Facebook and LinkedIn Live chat, Elizabeth talks to recruitment and HR expert Martin Drake about what companies should do to attract talent in today’s jobs market.

Martin tells Elizabeth why he started his own recruitment agency, Higher People, and how they do things differently from more traditional recruitment firms. He then unpacks the current state of the jobs market and offers concrete advice companies can follow to attract and retain the right people. You’ll hear Martin’s thoughts on a better way to calculate a fair salary and what a good benefits package should look like.

Martin and Elizabeth also discuss the alignment companies need to create between their HR and marketing departments and how to translate that into a job advert that will excite candidates to apply.

This chat offers a great look at the other side of recruitment, which is often hidden from the candidate’s perspective. You’ll learn about what job options might be open to you and what the recruitment process says about the company you’re applying to. If you learnt something and enjoyed this conversation, share it on your LinkedIn feed or with a friend who’s starting to put out feelers for a new job.
