How to Work with (And Not Against) Your Menstrual Cycle for Optimal Energy, Productivity & Happiness featured image

You’ve probably been getting your period fairly regularly for several years and may think you are an expert on your cycle. But how well do you REALLY know your cycle? It’s not only about when your period is due; understanding your cycle involves recognising it as a daily hormonal fluctuation. What happens internally on each day of your cycle, and how does that affect everything that happens to you externally – your mood, energy levels, and productivity?

In this episode, Kelly Beaumont joins us to explore how to work with and not against your menstrual cycle. Kelly is a qualified coach with over 7 years of experience focusing on menstrual health and educating women about what’s happening with their cycles.

In the live session, Kelly shares what happens internally during your cycle, the best way to track your cycle, the effects of progesterone and estrogen levels, and how to work with your cycle to achieve optimal productivity. Kelly also elaborates on perimenopause, menopause, and post-menopause experience.

Notable Quotes

  • There are so many different reasons that you don’t sleep well. Some women feel energised and struggle to wind down during the first half of the cycle, while others’ high progesterone levels in the second half can damage their sleep.
  • You will only know your optimum cycle if you track and identify what’s true for you.
  • Our resilience is much stronger towards ovulation. So if we do get that knockback, we are less likely to take it personally, whereas in the second half of our cycle, we can sometimes feel a bit wounded.
  • Our hormonal resilience begins to deplete as we get older, so the way we can go from one thing to another in our 20s isn’t possible as we get older.
  • Women’s sex drives look very different generally throughout the month.
  • As a parent, the earlier you can start having conversations about what inevitably will happen, the better.
  • Unless we give our body time to figure it out, we’ve put a Band-Aid on something that doesn’t need fixing.
